About Afghanistan Contact Karate Branch
Sensei Farid Saljuqi began training in Contact Karate in 1999. He was a student of Sensei Zamani and, after six years of training, successfully achieved a black belt. He is also proudly a student of Shihan Dr Asgar Azadian.
In 2003, he founded a small club in Herat, Afghanistan, but after a while was forced to travel to Iran. In Iran, he established the Contact Karate Club in Alborz District, Mehrshahr, Karaj, Phase 4, and continued training. By participating in national and provincial competitions, he won several medals.
In the winter of 2022, he was honoured with the 4th Dan black belt and an Asian refereeing credential. Sensei Farid Saljuqi is officially recognised as the founder of this global style in Afghanistan by the National Olympic Committee of Afghanistan. Since 2012, he has successfully mentored numerous students, coaches, and champions at the national, Asian, and global levels.
In 2019, along with a team sent to Lebanon, he won four championship titles (gold and silver). Similarly, in 2020, the team won two gold and two silver medals in Beirut, Lebanon, placing Afghanistan fourth among 19 countries. He was also recognised as the Global Sports Peace Ambassador by the World Peace Sports Organisation, headquartered in Beirut.
He was introduced as a representative by the Global Self-Defence Organisation from Germany. He has also won many medals in Iran's domestic competitions and have valuable medals in the country's martial arts federation.
The Contact Karate branch in Afghanistan has always been supported and encouraged by Shihan Dr Asgar Azadian. Every year, coaches and referees are invited by this organisation for Dan promotion and seminars. They have received several invitations from reputable sports organisations including Russia, England, Egypt, Iran, Lebanon, and Armenia.
Contact Karate in Afghanistan is sponsored by the charitable foundation of Dr Osman Norzai Ghuriani, and owns a well-equipped 500-square-metre hall with excellent facilities, a gym, a ring, a swimming pool, green space, and a park for training. We owe gratitude to Dr Norzai for all these supports. The achievements and activities of this style have also been covered by the Diar Dara magazine.
